‘One of the world’s greatest surviving natural treasures’

About Aldabra

Located in the Southwest Indian Ocean are the Aldabra Group of islands  — home to the famed Aldabra atoll.

Renowned for the world’s largest population of giant tortoises and other rare birds, plants, and reptiles, Aldabra Atoll is a refuge for 400 species found nowhere else on the planet.

These untouched islands have long been celebrated for their remarkable biodiversity, which has survived thanks to their seclusion.

A HISTORY OF PUBLIC ACTION HAS PROTECTED THE ISLANDS

Twice before, public pressure has successfully stopped development projects on these islands, proving that when people speak up and act, conservation wins.

Our generation now has the responsibility to make sure the Aldabra Islands remain protected forever – so no one has to fight for their survival again.
